### Edexcel A-Level Economics 25 Mark Question

Some occupations in the UK are facing large labour shortages. Hard-to-fill vacancies include qualified chefs, software engineers, construction workers and qualified nurses. **Evaluate the factors that might influence the supply of labour in an occupation of your choice.** (June 2022)

**Paragraph 1**

- **Argument**: one factor that affects the supply of dentists is occupational mobility of labour; time and opportunity cost to get qualified
- **Diagram**: supply of labour
- **Evaluation**: government failure can lead to unintended consequences e.g. under-qualified dentists

**Paragraph 2**

- **Argument**: another factor that affects the supply of dentists is the wage rate in substitute jobs like dental nurses, doctors
- **Diagram**: demand and supply of both labour markets
- **Evaluation**: depends on other factors of supply e.g. career prospects, vocational elements
